Check out this fly tying video, as Anglers All resident tying expert and Umpqua Signature Tyer, Delaney Chapman, shows us how to tie Lynch’s Drunk and Disorderly Deceiver.
At first glance, the D&D might look a goofy streamer with an odd-shaped head. In reality, this is a masterpiece from tyer, Tommy Lynch. It’s the very shape and placement of that head that gives this fly incredible movement in the water.
When Lynch set out to design the D&D, he wanted to create something with more movement than the simple rise and fall of the average cone-head streamer. What he achieved, has been wildly successful. This fly has proven to be a deadly streamer.
The wedge-shaped head acts like a diving lure. Then the articulated body gets caught up in the movement, creating diving and fluttering actions in the water.
When fishing the Drunk and Disorderly, we recommend using a sinking line, VersiLeader or splitshot to help get the fly down. Once below the surface, quick, erratic strips give this fly an irresistible movement.
