I never know what I'm doing in a hardware store. Invariably, I forget what I need and then wander around aimlessly until something catches my eye to remind me why I am there.

One Summer day in 2007, that something was a roll of cupboard liner material. It grabbed my attention from the corner of my eye. “That, I thought, is a roll of ants.”
