​The natural midge actually has an exoskeleton that is shiny so I coat the fly in UV resin bone dry. Though it's a simple fly there is a lot going on here; you've got the CDC that moves in the water, black thread for contrast, silver wire for segmentation and the UV resin that puts a shine on it.
