Why We Go

Nestled in the remote Alaskan frontier, Aniak River Lodge offers some of the most untouched and best trout, salmon, pike, and char fishing in Alaska. Your cabins are feet from the banks of the Aniak River that acts as your highway for the entirety of your trip. Cabins are equipped with running water, private restroom, heaters, additional bug spray, and citronella candles. One of the best aspects of Aniak River Lodge is the diversity of water you fish during your stay and the variety of fish available. With access at your front door step you can fish sloughs for pike, the main river for sheefish, and the spring fed creeks for rainbow trout, dolly varden, arctic char, grayling, and five species of salmon. Depending on time of year you have the opportunity to target 11 species of fish during your stay.

The Aniak river lodge is a weather port tent based lodge on the banks of the Aniak river. It is a no frills wilderness experience with all the
amenities to make your trip comfortable, enjoyable and one to remember for a lifetime. It allows you the opportunity to be on your own with the river. No helicopters , no planes and no other boats. Remote, isolated and secluded. Alaska the way it was and should be.
Sample Itinerary
Monday | ARRIVAL & WELCOME
You fly into Anchorage, typically the night before your trip, and then take a small 8- 12 passenger plane from Anchorage to Aniak. Upon arrival at Aniak, your guides for the week will pick you up in a bus and take you to the lodge HQ. You do a safety briefing and have a quick lunch and then you wader up for the first time. You take a jet boat up to the lodge and fish some pike and sheefish beats on the way up. After a short 1 to 1.5 hour boat ride you land on the banks of your home for the week.
SATURDAY–THURSDAY | SIX DAYS ON THE ANIAK
For the next six days, the river is yours to explore.
Each morning begins with breakfast at 7:00 a.m., followed by a full day of guided fishing on the Aniak River.
After a rewarding day on the water, you return to camp with time to clean up, relax, share stories from the day, and enjoy dinner before another day of fishing awaits.
FRIDAY | FAREWELL TO THE RIVER
Your final morning begins early. Pack your gear and check out of camp. After breakfast at 7:00 a.m., your guides will accompany you and your luggage back downriver to our Welcoming Facility in Aniak.
Once back in the village, you’ll have time to change out of your waders and prepare for your journey home.
