Hans designed this scud pattern for tight-line or euro nymphing. And while it’s a great pattern for that purpose, the Scud Bomb has also proven itself as a deadly fly in nymph rigs under an indicator as well. Don’t hesitate to fish this fly on freestones, tailwaters, reservoirs, and alpine lakes, in any situation that calls for a heavy nymph.

In fact, this fly weighs enough to replace the need for the need for split shot. This makes it a great point-fly in any type of nymph rig. It’s also designed to ride with its hook up in the water, reducing snags on the bottom of the river. Tie this one in a variety of colors and sizes for a wide range of waters and situations.
