In this fly tying video, Anglers All tying expert and Umpqua Signature Tyer, Delaney Chapman, gives us a step-by-step look at how to tie GT’s Triple Double.
Developed by fishing guide, Gorden Tharrett, the Triple Double is a fly pattern designed to fool picky trout that are selectively feeding on tiny midges. Fished in a size 14 or 16, this fly effectively imitates a midge cluster. Alternatively, it makes a great crossover ant pattern.
When you find trout on highly pressured tailwaters that are feeding on impossibly small midges, try fishing GT’s Triple Double to find success. Then keep it in your fly box through the summer and early fall months, as a killer high country ant pattern.
