Todd Clough - Guide Emeritus

Todd grew up in Boulder County Colorado and has been fly fishing since 1965 when his older brother of three-years Mike Clough found an old bamboo rod in a house they moved into – he decided that he was done with his Zebco and he was going to become a flyfisher. Todd was 10 and decided to do the same. They spent a few years terrorizing the bluegills and small bass in our local ponds and riding our bikes to Hank Roberts Fly Shop in Boulder where they would spend hours browsing and eavesdropping on the adults only to then buy one Yellow Humpy each and then ride the nine miles back home.
 
After three-years of this drill Mike earned his drivers license and the whole world opened up. Now they could stop into Anglers All ( in the late 60’s) on their way up to fish Cheesman Canyon and bother Jim and Jane Poor with endless questions where upon we would reward them with a sale of two Buckskins, two Brazzie’s and four Hares Ears (they really liked Hares Ears.)
 
Todd has been guiding and teaching people how to fly fish since 1979. In his 30+ years of instructing and guiding he has taught and led over 6,000 anglers, many have gone on to be guides, thus his most coveted nickname “The Guide Father.”
 
He has had the opportunity to guide, teach classes and lead trips in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Mexico, Bahamas, Belize, Canada, Costa Rica, Alaska, Louisiana, Florida, South Carolina and his personal favorite of Nebraska.
 
Todd will fish anywhere and for every species -- he often dreams of big Carp at the Grocery Cart hole on the South Plate near Hampden and will drive anywhere with the hope of catching Big Bluegills – a secret lake in eastern Idaho is tied for his favorite with a slough on the South and North Carolina border.
 
He's passionate about teaching others about fly fishing – how to get better at it -- whether it be their first time with a rod in their hand or if they have been doing it for decades but they are wanting to learn something new and everyone in between.
